Restaurant Review
Coloful treat awaits in the Bayan Tree
By Wilma Murray
I know I am enamored of restaurant when I can't wait to tell
my friends about it; I know it has made a deep impression on
me when I begin to try to drum up business so it won't go away¡ |

| The menu states that char kway teow ($6.95) is traditionally served by street vendors in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. A sure step up from the ol¡¯hot dog stand in my mind. I thoroughly enjoyed this gathering of broad rice noodles, entwined with bean sprouts and scrambled egg, and mixed with flat rectangles of fish cake, all in a gently spicy soy/chili paste sauce. |

| Malaysian food is, like the country, a multi-ethnic blend, drawing from Chinese, Indian and Thai cuisine that reflects the country¡¯s melting pot of cultures. The food also reflects the country¡¯s sensibilities, which means there is no pork on the menu; however, there is lot of seafood, fresh vegetables and bean curd, and some poultry, beef and lamb. Coconut milk, curry, chilis, lemongrass and ginger are ubiquitous in the sauces. |
